Our Project Manager handles the big-picture details to keep NOVA Landscape & Design running like a well-oiled machine. The Project Manager oversees multiple projects and crews simultaneously. He or she delegates to the landscape foremen, lines up materials and resources, and manages scheduling. During a project, the PM works closely with the crew and the customer to secure successful project completion. By preparing the resources, materials, and crews prior to each start date, the Project Manager is instrumental in the success of every job.
Requirements for a successful Project Manager include strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Extensive customer service experience, patience, excellent communication skills, willingness to work long hours, and a commitment to meeting project goals and deadlines are essential. Candidates should have experience in managing outdoor projects, as well as extensive knowledge of landscape and hardscape installation. They need to have hands-on field experience with installing and an understanding of the inner workings of how a landscape is actually built. Construction experience is a plus. Compensation is based on a competitive hourly rate and professional experience.
We’re seeking a professional residential hardscape construction expert focused on pavers, retaining walls, masonry, and other hardscaping products. Our Hardscape Masons must display a commitment to industry best practices and to NOVA processes, techniques, quality commitments, and policies.
Candidates for the Hardscape Mason position must have a thorough understanding of residential concrete and masonry work, including building paver patios, segmental retaining walls, walkways, and dry creek beds, as well as solving drainage issues. They should be able to work well in a group setting or independently to finish projects under time constraints. Hardscape-related certifications from ICPI, CSRWI, or other reputable organizations are a plus. A great candidate for Hardscape Mason will be a good communicator and team leader. Three or more years of experience are required, as are professional references and a valid drivers license.
Our landscape designers bring our customers’ visions to life! The Landscape Designer position requires three years of hardscaping and plant/softscaping design experience, as well as proficiency in Sketch Up, two-dimensional drawing, and other specialized tools for creating landscape designs. Extensive knowledge of hardscape design is required, specifically designing of paver patios, segmental retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and steps. Knowledge of plant material and tree removal services is a bonus, but not required. Industry certifications are also a plus.
Landscape Designers must travel to clients’ homes for design consulting, and work can be done completely from home office. Compensation is competitive and goal driven.
Canvasser is an entry-level sales position that gets you out into the community to represent a company with a great local reputation. Canvassers combine customer service and listening skills with marketing knowledge to share our company and services with potential customers – always with the goal of creating a positive connotation. Canvassers spend most of their time initiating contact with homeowners in our Northern Virginia target market.
The result of canvassing efforts can only be as good as the information being shared, so we’ve created a variety of marketing materials that empower our canvassing team to make connections with homeowners. The entry-level position can transition naturally to Head Canvasser, Outside Sales, and even Sales Designer positions. This is a unique opportunity for candidates, especially those with non-profit or political canvassing experience, to explore a career in sales.
Landscaping Crew Member
Entry-level crew members at NOVA get hands-on experience in a variety of hardscaping and softscaping functions. The skill-building in this position is immense, and the knowledge gained can quickly prepare crew members for other positions within the company. Becoming a member of NOVA’s landscaping crew is the perfect opportunity for driven individuals to start a new career in a great working environment with a supportive company culture.
Landscaping crew members visit our customers’ homes to bring our design team’s visions to life. Reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail are crucial. Pay is hourly, and hours vary by season. Applicants should be open to extended hours Spring through Fall.
At NOVA, landscape foremen are responsible for managing all the resources that make our company tick – landscaping crews, project sites, plants, and equipment. The foreman oversees project completion and equipment operation and ensures that each client's property is treated with the utmost care and respect.
Leadership skills are a must for the foreman position, and the best candidates will have experience working with landscape designers, engineers, and landscape crews. Past on-the-job management experience is a plus. Depending on an individual foreman’s experience and unique qualifications, this position may include a variety of management functions.
